Position: Vendor Manager – Amazon Beauty

Alright, so here’s the real scoop on Amazon’s A49 office. Smack dab in downtown Toronto, this place is basically the mothership for all things Amazon.ca. The teams here? They’re not just shipping boxes—they’re mixing it up across Retail, AWS, Ads, Prime, Vendor Management, Marketing… you name it, they’re in it. Everyone’s hustling to make Amazon.ca smoother, shinier, and just flat-out better for customers (and honestly, probably trying to outdo each other in the lunchroom).

The A49 crew is all about shaking things up for Canadian shoppers. We’re talking innovation, wild ideas, and, yeah, those classic Amazon Leadership Principles—the ones you hear about in every interview. Customer Obsession? Check. Taking ownership? Double check. Think Big? Sure, go nuts. Deliver Results? Of course, or you’ll get called out in front of everyone.

So what’s up with this Vendor Manager – Beauty gig?

If you’re obsessed with makeup, skincare, or you just really love a good Excel spreadsheet, this is your playground. The job’s all about building killer relationships with the most popular beauty brands out there and making sure their products actually sell (instead of just looking pretty on the site). You’re the bridge between Amazon and all those brands your friends are raving about on TikTok.

You’ll be wheeling and dealing with vendors, brainstorming ways to bump up category sales, and basically acting like a business owner for your slice of the beauty pie. Think big-picture stuff: negotiating contracts, launching new products, tweaking prices, and deep-diving into data until your eyeballs hurt. Oh, and you’ll work with a ton of other teams—marketing, ops, finance, the whole circus.

This is one of those “jump in the deep end” roles. You want a career in General Management or dream of running your own thing one day? This is your fast track. And, yeah, if you survive the pace, you’ll come out the other side with serious skills.

What you actually do all day:

– Run the P&L show for your vendor squad
– Argue/negotiate with brands about prices, promos, and what gets the spotlight
– Make sure new launches don’t flop
– Hunt for ways to make the selection bigger, better, cheaper, or just more fun for shoppers
– Crunch ridiculous amounts of data to find out what’s working (and what’s not)
– Team up with everyone from marketers to finance nerds to keep things moving
– Build trust with vendors so they keep bringing their best stuff to Amazon
– Help plan promos, forecast demand, and keep inventory from spiraling out of control
– Always look for hacks to make the whole machine run smoother

What you need to even get a shot:

– Bachelor’s degree (or you did something wild in the military or another pro field)
– 5+ years of experience in retail, ops, vendor/program management, consulting, or something similar
– 3+ years deep in Excel (if you don’t know pivot tables or macros, sorry)
– You’ve handled P&Ls, can read a financial statement, and actually enjoy it
– You know how to negotiate, analyze stuff, and people like working with you

Bonus points if:

– You’ve actually negotiated with vendors before, set prices, worked on promos, or wrangled inventory
– You know your way around e-comm, retail, or consumer tech
– You can persuade anyone—bosses, vendors, that one stubborn marketing person
– You love digging through messy data until you find the gold
– You’ve taken a product from nothing to something (or helped a brand blow up)

Honestly, if you’re the type who can talk beauty trends and business models in the same breath, you’ll fit right in. If you can’t stand the idea of sitting still and want real ownership? Even better.
